La+ Darknesss, Takane Lui, Hakui Koyori, and Kazama Iroha, who comprise the unit Secret Society holoX, held their solo concert Secret Society holoX Live 2026 "First MISSION" on April 29 at Pia Arena MM in Kanagawa.
holoX debuted in 2021 as part of hololive. While they originally performed as five members, in January 2025, Sakamata Chloe concluded her streaming activities within hololive, and since then, holoX has continued with four members. This concert marked their first-ever in-person live concert, which came in their fifth year as a unit.
What did this concert mean to holoX, and what do hololive units think about when building an in-person concert? With additional context from staff members H, we held a roundtable discussion with the four members, looking back on the show.

A concert that became a turning point for holoX and holoXers alike
—First, allow me to ask your honest feelings now that the concert is over.
I feel like I gave it everything I got! Before the show started, the producers were like, “Have fun out there,” and I was thinking, “I am way too nervous to enjoy anything!” (laughs). Once it started, though, I actually had fun.
I was a little worried about doing a live concert with just the four of us after performing as a five-member unit all this time. But afterward, we heard so many comments from holoXers* like, “I want to keep supporting the four of you,” and, “After it became just the four of you, I wasn’t sure of how to support you, but now I get it.” I think this concert became a huge turning point, not just for us, but for holoXers too.
*”holoXer” is the fan name for holoX
The big events like hololive fes. (hereinafter “fes.”) are obviously very fun, but a unit solo live like this is special, because it allows all four of us to be the main characters from start to finish. And because the holoXer energy is so intense, we can keep giving 120% back the whole way through. That was just… ridiculously fun. It reminded me all over again how much I love live shows.
I’ll never forget the crowd’s excitement and the energy in the venue. I feel like we gave it all we have and saw it through, but at the same time, it doesn’t feel “over” yet. It’s a floaty kind of sensation. Preparing and practicing for the concert had become part of my daily life. Even now, I wake up and, for a second, I think, “I’ll do my best for the practice today!”
—Looking back, which songs left the biggest impression on you?
With “Blast Diver!!!!”, there was a huge sense of unity with everyone in the venue, thanks to the call-and-response part.
I know! We had no idea how loud holoXers would get until the day of. Hearing everyone shout like that made me so happy.

For me, it’s “Jouya Repaint re:paint ver.”. It’s a song that honors holoX’s past, but also says: “From here on, the four of us will repaint everything and keep moving forward.” While I was singing, I felt the rush of a feeling, like I could take on anything with us four.
I put a lot into that one, too. For me, because it was the last song of the concert, I was thinking of all the holoXers watching at the venue and on stream, and was like, “I’ll make sure you’re gonna be thinking about us for a long time after the show!”
“Just for X”; a song that could only be made now

And then there is “Just for X”. It’s a new favorite for all of us, and it allowed us to show our new look. In the end, though, all that added up to a very cool performance.
—The performance with each of you holding a weapon was striking, too.
The choreographer came up with that a week before the show, saying it would look cooler. While that’s true, I felt some pressure because I wasn’t sure if we would be able to pull it off in a cool way on such short notice. I wanted to live up to the staff’s trust, though. I imagined that getting it right would make holoXers recognize how cool we can be. So I did my best.
“Just for X” was already our hardest dance so far, and the weapon performance added on top of it. The staff told us before the practice, “You’ll just brandish your weapons and show them for a little bit—nothing difficult.” But once practice started, it was so hard. It was difficult to stay on tempo, too! I was like, “You said this wouldn’t be difficult!” (laughs). In the end, though, all that added up to a very cool performance.
From a production standpoint, when we first launched the live project, we wanted a song that would show off the four of them properly. “Just for X” was born out of that idea. That’s why we gave them new outfits made specifically for the live concert as well. As for the staging, since the Secret Society are villains, we wanted to show them doing a dynamic “superhero landing”, or in this case, a “supervillain landing”.
That outfit change was novel to us, something we hadn’t done before. It fit the vibe of holoX perfectly. It was like a transformation scene that both adults and kids could enjoy, and it looked so cool.
Our baseline concept was to deliver a cool and stylish four-person unit, different from everyday holoX. That is why we asked them to challenge “Just for X”. We had a cool song like “Just for X” and also had an overall vibe of chaos, which is very holoX. It was a very good show in that sense, too.
That’s how much thought you put into it…!
“Gyoukou Chronicle”, connected by gratitude from all four

Another song that stuck with me was “Gyoukou Chronicle”. I always thought of myself as someone not good at singing ballads. On top of that, we had a super emotional emcee segment right before the song. The staff were teasing me, like, “Maybe you’ll get too sentimental to sing it right!” Of course, that lit my fire, and I went, “No, it’ll do it perfectly!” But then, when I was actually singing, all these memories came flooding back… and I couldn’t get through it without shedding some tears (laughs). All the others were singing so well, though. I went, “Wait… am I the only one getting these feelings?!”
No no, you were crying way too much (laughs). In fact, you cried so much that when we noticed it, we all went, “Wow, she is crying so much,” and it made us calm down.
Please. Stop. Don’t tease me anymore.
Well… I was crying too, to be fair(laughs).
La+ and I went pretty deep in the emcee segment as Founder and Executive Officer. I think that made Koyori and Iroha think they have to carry the song. I picked up on that feeling from them, and that made me emotional, too.
That is correct. I was nervous about how far we were allowed to go in the emcee part. I didn’t know what the others were going to say until the day of. Once La+ and Lui said what they said, I felt more reassured than anxious, and decided to sing with the mindset of supporting everyone. When we formed the circle, I tried to smile and look at everyone’s faces.
And when I saw Koyori holding back tears while trying to keep smiling, I lost my composure. I started crying, too.
The smile gets you, doesn’t it? I know Koyori felt pressure, and we’d all been bracing for the difficult side of things together. I was very thankful for that smile.
Meanwhile, I was grateful for your words. I think we were passing around gratitude like a baton at a relay race.
You were all smiling and singing like you were having fun during rehearsals, though.
If anything, our director M was the one crying during rehearsals! When we were singing on the first day of practice, I was looking around, thinking, “Are we all going to cry at the live concert because of how emotional this is?” and then I saw M crying before anyone else. I think that helped us hold back our tears (laughs).
Well… M has been with holoX for a long time. There was a lot going through their mind, I’m sure.
“Gyoukou Chronicle” was released around the time Chloe announced the end of her streaming activities. I think a lot of holoXers felt like it’s too sad a song to listen to now. But some holoXers also said that after seeing all four of us sing it together, it became a symbol for looking ahead. That made me very happy.
It’s such a good song, too. I think this concert helped re-define it as a song for cherishing the past while moving forward.
We knew “Gyoukou Chronicle” was important to holoX and holoXers. We wanted to stage it in a way that is moving for the viewers. Before the emcee section, we asked holoX to speak whatever they wanted for as long as they needed to make people emotional. It took about 25 minutes in the end.
I might have taken up 10 minutes of that. Sorry…
Not a problem at all. We had decided that we would not cut time for that one part, no matter what. What mattered was that you all said what you needed to say to each other. Because of that, it became a “Gyoukou Chronicle” performance more moving than we ever imagined. We were very satisfied.
The intent behind each member’s solo selections
—Tell us what you were particular about with your solo songs, and what stayed with you.
I performed “IrohaStep!” and “My True Self”. With those two songs, I wanted to reaffirm who Kazama Iroha is. “IrohaStep!” is bright and upbeat, more like an introduction to the character of Kazama Iroha. “My True Self” focuses more on my inner self. There were times I worried about how to show my character strongly within holoX. But these two songs helped me feel like I was able to demonstrate myself as a one-of-a-kind presence in the group.
And another thing… During practice for my solo, they suddenly added some extra dances that were ridiculously difficult. I think that means the staff trusts me to some degree. I think (laughs).

—La+, how about you?
There is no deep reason behind my song choices. I thought singing my first release “Aien-Jihen” and the otaku*-favorite “Buglove” would hype people up. That’s really it (laughs).
*La+ Darknesss lovingly refers to her fans (and herself) as “Otaku-kun” on streams and social media.
La+ is naturally great at working the crowd, and the way she built momentum mid-song was exactly as expected.
Maybe I was born to do live shows.

—What about you, Lui?
I have about twenty solo songs released, but I wanted one that really connects to holoX, which was “Overd”. It voices my struggles as the Executive Officer. Then, “Anastasis Girl feat. La+ Darknesss” is the song of how the Founder and the Executive Officer met for the first time. It has that “Let’s go conquer the world!” feeling in it. It’s a song of our beginnings. That’s why I chose these two. “Anastasis Girl feat. La+ Darknesss” is popular with international fans, too. I wanted to excite them with a favorite.

─Please tell us about your solo songs, Koyori.
Although it was a holoX concert, I thought there might be people who didn’t know my solo songs, so I chose “WAO!!” which I also sang at fes. This song is also like a self-introduction for me, so I thought it was a safe choice as I believed everyone would get excited for it. I also challenged myself and sang one more: “KANSEITOUYORI.”
ーThis is an original song you performed at your birthday live in March this year, right? The storytelling of the music video and lyrics left quite the impression.
I originally wanted to do an upbeat call-and-response type song, but on the day I recorded “KANSEITOUYORI”, I thought to myself that this was a song that would sound great live. Therefore, I chose it especially for our holoX live concert, an event very important to us. I sang it with a lot of feeling so everyone could get to know the real me, and holoXers were apparently surprised to learn I had this side of me, so I’m glad I took on this challenge.

Conquering the world through emceeing?!︎
―As you were performing live at a venue, there were also emcee segments where you were interacting with the crowd. How was it being face-to-face with the holoXers?
I think it’s quite rare for us to interact with fans like that at a live show. We, of course, could see the lovely holoXers, and the kinds of merch they had brought with them to the concert, but we thought there may have been those who were unsure about whether or not we could actually see them. Therefore, we made sure to make time to communicate with the crowd directly so they knew that we could really see them! We were so happy to be able to see all the holoXers smiling and getting excited when we were singing as well.
We really wanted to get as many fans involved as possible during the emcee segments. We also picked out some comments from the stream comment section as well, but it was really fun to talk with everyone at such close range.
Actually, Iroha and I also have experience talking with “Otaku-kun” like that on the EXPO STAGE at hololive SUPER EXPO 2026 (hereinafter “EXPO”). That probably turned out to be good practice.
So true! I remember just freely having fun with them.
Of course, because it’s EXPO, there are fans of other talents besides us. But, by pure chance, we managed to get a fan of Iroha’s. I hope we were able to give that sort of experience during our emcee sections at the holoX live as well.
We made sure that you, La+, could actively poke fun at holoXers a little. We knew that others could lead the emcee sections as well, but we believed that she could have a little fun without making fans feel uncomfortable. La+ often interacts with other streamers, so we were confident that we could trust her with emcee duties, as she has great ad-lib skills that keep everyone excited no matter what happens.
I see! Well, maybe I was born to be an emcee.
Maybe I didn’t notice during the show because I was nervous, but when I rewatched the recording afterward, it surprised me how wide the range of ages in the crowd was. I really felt like we’d conquered the world, seeing everyone’s smiling faces, from adults to young children. I think more of my fans are a little more reserved, but I was so glad to be able to see their smiling faces live.

A live concert where the bonds of holoX became stronger!
―What do you think you were able to achieve as a unit when practicing and performing this live concert?
First of all, it was a big mission of ours to successfully put on a live performance at a venue. As this was the first time for all four of us to be on such a big stage, what I was mainly thinking about was creating something that fans were really happy with and thought, “These four are the best!” Of course, there may be fans who think that there’s no holoX without (Sakamata) Chloe, but we hope that this live concert made those fans think that holoX with the four of us isn’t so bad, and they’ll keep watching us.
I truly believe that we were able to put on the best show we could with the four of us. I hope this was a bit of a guide to how fans can support us, and I’m really glad we did it.
There was, of course, some uncertainty with how it would go, but we wanted to share those feelings with everyone and overcome them together, instead of just bottling them up.
―Did the bond between the four of you grow stronger practicing for and performing in this live concert?
Definitely. Personally, I feel like we don’t need to hold back, in a good way, and we can respect each other. Practice was tough for all of us, myself included, and there were times we got down on ourselves because we couldn’t do something, but I felt like we grew a belief that even when one of us was feeling a bit down, we knew they would get back to normal. I believe in these three, and we are a team where everyone does what they can.
We really did become more open around each other. Compared to before, we were more able to enter each other’s space more and tell each other what we really thought. We all know our role within holoX, and this was a live concert where we came up with what we needed to do individually.
We were on the same page when it came to wanting to create a live concert where holoXers would want us to do another one. We surpassed some of our biggest goals and became closer with everyone through just having normal conversations.
We became a lot closer.
―Lastly, the live concert is currently available as an archive stream. What would any one of you like to say to those who might come across holoX in the future?
We’re cool, chatty, and maybe a little awkward and odd. However, we hope that watching us lifts your spirits, and that our live concert is kind of like a “calling card” that shows you what holoX has to offer, and that’s what makes us special. Please take a look if you get the chance.
There’s a free portion, so go watch the free part! We can go from there!
